A story of God's Faithfulness
Grace City Church was founded in 2003 by Pastor Calvin and Wanda Suttles with a burning desire to share the gospel and reach the people of East Chicago, Indiana. The church began humbly with just 15 members meeting in a converted funeral home on Reading Street. Guided by their faith and passion, the congregation grew rapidly, exceeding 150 members by 2005. This growth was a testament to the church’s welcoming spirit and commitment to its mission. In 2017, the church relocated to the Knights of Columbus in Hammond, Indiana, and finally, in 2020, they moved into their current home on Grand Boulevard in East Chicago—a building Pastor Calvin had prayed over in 1989, fulfilling a divine promise and vision.
Throughout its history, Grace City Church has been a beacon of hope and service in the community. The church’s annual 'Reach Week' is a cherished tradition where members distribute school supplies, clean local parks, pray for neighbors, and deliver meals to emergency workers, reflecting the church’s commitment to community and generosity. Our notable ministries include vibrant Sunday worship services, bi-weekly Community Groups for in-depth Bible study and discipleship, and dedicated Thursday night prayer gatherings. These activities embody our vision to create a place where people are loved, saved, and discipled to become world changers.

Grace City Church’s journey is marked by God's unwavering faithfulness. From Pastor Calvin’s early prayer for our current building to the prophetic word in 2008, and finally, the miraculous provision of the building in 2012 for just $1, we have seen God’s hand guiding our path. In 2024, after 22 years of dedicated ministry, Pastor Calvin (now Apostle Calvin) passed the leadership to his son, Pastor Calvin Jr., who, along with his wife Lorna and their three children, continues to lead our church with the same passion and commitment. As we move forward, we remain steadfast in our mission to love God, love people, and love serving, confident that God’s faithfulness will continue to guide us in transforming lives and communities.
